Description: Leaving Ford Nationals to Army Heritage Center, Carlisle, PA.  The U.S. Army Heritage &Education Center (USAHEC) showcases contemporary and historical exhibits related to strategic leadership, the global application of Landpower, and U.S. Army Heritage in an effort to education the public and to honor Soldiers, past and present.  The Army Heritage walking trail covers one mile of historical outdoor exhibits.  Visit www.armyheritage.org for more information.Approximately 20 miles roundtrip.  Estimated time:  Five hours for street cruise, tour, and dinner.

(MEB has arranged for a private bus and guide. The prices above also include the picnic lunch provided by the club for a significant savings over standard bus tours and concessions offered  onsite)

 

Description: Cruise through scenic Cumberland and Adams County’s as we make our way to the Gettysburg Visitors Center.  The Center features a museum, movie, Cyclorama, and gift shop devoted to Civil War History.  Lunch will be provided by the club.  Following lunch, we will board a private bus for a two hour tour of the Battlefield with a private guide.  Upon return to the Visitors Center, you may choose to remain in Gettysburg to partake in downtown shopping, ghost tours, etc., or cruise back to Carlisle to experience more great Pennsylvania scenery.Group photo opportunity on return trip.

 

Distance and Duration: Approximately 70 miles round trip.  All day street cruise and tour.

Destination #1:  Caravan group move from Carlisle to Twin Grove Campground with stop at

Description: The museum is built on a wooded hillside overlooking the historic Latimore Valley Fairgrounds and Racetrack near York Springs, Pa. Along with establishing one of the premier racing museums in the country, the 40 acre fairgrounds and racetrack were also passionately restored to their original beauty. This creates an almost magical atmosphere that makes EMMR a "living museum".

 

Distance and Duration: 20 miles.  Street cruise and tour will last approximately two hours.

Cost:  $8 Driver/$3 per passenger

 

Description: Travel via ferry over the Susquehanna River on the way to Twin Grove Campground.  The Millersburg Ferry has two boats that are presently part of the fleet, The Roaring Bull V and the Falcon III, according to the U. S. Coast Guard, are the only two remaining all-wooden, double-paddle stern wheel ferry boats of their type remaining in the United States.  Space is limited and restricted to size of vehicle.  No RV’s are permitted.  Visit www.millersburgferry.org for more information.

Those not choosing to take the Ferry may visit Bass Pro Shops off Route I-83 on the way to Twin Grove to get last minute camping supplies.

  • Admission to the Museum
  • Private guided behind the scenes tour (access to vehicle storage garages to items not on display to the public)
  • Group aerial photo of Broncos in front of Museum
  • Lunch provided for our group in the Rotunda.

Description: The Antique Automobile Club of America Museum, a proud affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is a world-class automotive experience. Children and adults of all ages can explore numerous vintage vehicle displays and interactive exhibits featuring cars, buses, motorcycles, and other automobiles from the 1890s through the 1980s. A visit to the AACA Museum is a one-of-a-kind journey of discovery and entertainment for the entire family and is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of vintage automobiles and their vast history.

 

We expect to arrive at 10AM. The tour will take about two hours, after which we will have lunch, and then the group photos.  There will be a Summer-long exhibit “Early Off-Roaders; Vintage SUVs Featuring 50 Years of the Ford Bronco and over 75 years of the Jeep” with other rare and unique SUVs on display as well as traditional classic and antiques.

 

Following the AACA Museum visit, participants will be free to go back and look further at displays in the Museum, or you can take in some of the local attractions such as Hershey Park, Chocolate World, etc., or to head back to Twin Grove to relax or help prepare for the Bronco Roundup.

 

Distance and Duration: Approximately 50 mile round trip from Twin Grove.  Half day street cruise and tour to museum.
