Join us for a leisurely back country road tour of Historic Bucks Co Pa where we will visit 8-9 covered bridges that were originally built in the early 1800’s.
We will start out from the Tyler State Park parking lot 386 Swamp Rd Newtown Pa, this is a gravel road right off Swamp Rd, take that to the end where you can circle around like your heading back up and we will line up on the side of the road. Be careful not to spook any of the horses that may be unloading to go riding at the road end. The first covered bridge is down an access road just off this parking lot and is a short walk if you want to go see it. Please be quick though as we will want to leave the parking lot by 9am.
From there we will head out to a couple bridges and eventually make a rest stop at Lake Nockamixon State Park where we hope to line up for a group picture by the lake.
After leaving Nockamixon we will head out to see a couple more bridges with Lunch at Ralph Stover State Park depending on time. Lunch will be cold sandwiches, chips and drinks provided by Mid-Atlantic Early Broncos. We can also hit a gas station to fill up anyone who needs to, just make sure you tell us so we stop.
We will then head out on our final leg visiting several more bridges and taking some very narrow and twisting back roads so be careful!
We will end the journey at Bowmans Hill Tower, A one hundred and ten foot observation tower built in 1930 to commemorate the lookout of the American Revolution, "The Tower" has become a well known & loved landmark in Bucks County, PA. The Tower offers a panoramic view of the Delaware River & surrounding countryside. If there is time you can climb the tower to the top for a $6 fee.

To account for food and logistics please email chriscjones@msn.com with the number of people who will attend and your phone number as we will try to establish and text list for directions and notices while on the tour.

Please have your vehicle gassed up and ready to go before arriving, please be on time, please let your guide know if you have any issues. It would be helpful but not required to have a CB radio in the vehicle to keep up with any changes or issues that may come up along the way. Don’t forget a fire extinguisher, took kit and the spare tire jack!
If you are trailering your bronco in and need to place to park it please notify Chris Jones so we can make arrangements, there is no place to park a trailer at the park, we do not have a lot of space and you may have to travel a bit after dropping off the truck and trailer so let us know asap.
Plan B, if the weather is very bad we may modify the route to include a visit to the www.mercermuseum.org Admission ranges for $6 to $15 per person. We should be able to give several days notice of this change.
